Methodologies & Testing

Engagement Workshop

The engagement workshop is a chance for you to bring to the table the challenges you've faced in your current software design lifecycle. These meetings work to solidify company-to-company contacts and help us better understand your processes and objectives.

As part of the workshop we will contrast your current process to our documented methodologies. We will then provide a Process Maturity Table that outlines a range of adoption recommendations and a roadmap to enhance your process over time.

Together we can chart a path to achieve your goals.

Methodologies

Shasta QA methodologies provide a framework to establish project priorities, measure progress against definable milestones, verify the sanity of those milestones, and to successfully manage the entire software development life cycle.

The Test Plan document defines terms and strategies and serves as a charter for your test effort.

Coverage MapThe Coverage Map gives management and engineers a high-level view of the effort, and is an excellent tool for coverage planning.

Milestone-based Test Cycles provide effective tracking and isolation of the test effort. Excessive open issues may indicate that a project is beginning to slip.

Milestone-Based

Bug Age Milestones ensure that your testing efforts remain on-track.

Incident Reports follow a rigorous template to provide your engineers with the information they need to reproduce and fix bugs.

Status Reports and Metrics Regular Status Reports and Metrics keep you informed of progress and red flag open issues for early resolution.

Process Adoption

Most software development tasks have different levels of maturity. Shasta QA will work with you to determine a phased adoption of methodologies, which documents the maturity of your existing processes and the risks associated with those processes.

The next step is to link the maturity level of your processes with release- or date-driven goals.

maturity

Linking schedule milestones to maturity growth allows us to chart measurable adoption of processes along our defined path to success.

Risk Management

Risk management is not just about finding software bugs. The complete Shasta QA methodologies look to improve the quality of the product related to usability, feature set, and user needs. Once in place, these processes provide focus, direction, and predictability. We will work with you to reduce time and costs throughout the software lifecycle.

riskmeter

Risk Management relates to Process, Time, and Cost. With the appropriate balance of these variables your company can remove the risk levels associated with development in accordance with your business model.

Mature processes require a greater investment of time than thin ones, but they lead to lower risk and greater overall success.
